01P Übertragung tot, wie bekomme ich 4WD und eine neue Übertragung?

    Ich habe einen T4 mit ESP, AXK VR6 (24V) und 01P-Automatikgetriebe.

    Ich möchte ESP intakt halten, aber Leute in den USA, die auf das 5-Gang-Getriebe 02G-AFL umgestellt haben, konnten den ESP von Bosch 5.3 nicht aufrecht erhalten.

    Außerdem ist der 02G-AFL kein Syncro und lässt kein Haldex-System zu. Gibt es ein anderes Getriebe - automatisch oder manuell, mit dem ich Syncro oder Haldex mit meinem AXK-Motor verwenden kann?

    Specially, I'm not sure what you or the translation mean with the appreviation ESP.

    In German, this appreviation has two possible meaning (it depend with the contex) :

    ESP: Einspritzpumpe - this is the fuel injection pump

    ESP: Elektronische Stabilitätsprogramm: this includes some functions and also the electronic differential lock

    (I think you mean the second one)

  • you could use the 02G-DRH or 02G-EFA gearbox. The gear ratio is overall shorter than the one of the 02G-AFL gearbox. However, the ratio of the angle-drive matches the ratio (17/27) of the first generation haldex rear differentials as found in the Golf 4, Audi TT MK1, Audi A3 8P, etc. Those are found in the 2.5 TDI syncro T4s, which were unfortunately not available in the US...

    Regarding your ESP issue: There have been a couple automatic to manual coversions of AMV equipped T4s (equivalent to the AXK engine for the EU market) here in Germany. And as far as I know, there is a tuner who was succesfull to modify the software of the Engine-ECU and ESP-ECU to accept a manual gearbox/missing automatic-ECU.

    In my opinion, if you are going for an AWD conversion, you should get rid of the ESP and install a plain ABS system instead, as the ESP in the T4 was never officially combinable with the syncro option. Also there exists no coding in the repair manual for AWD. Some people however claim, there has been a syncro panamericana with ESP and AWD.

    You're correct, I'm referring to "ESP: Elektronische Stabilitätsprogramm", and I've contacted a BMW tuner that says its possible to code a Bosch 5.3 correctly. I'll remove the Bosch 5.3 ESP as a last resort because I'm not sure which ABS-only brake controller to fit instead of the Bosch 5.3.

    Challenges:

    Right now the T4 is setup as an automatic - so I need pedals and a gear shifter (not sure where to get either).

    I need to find someone willing to install these parts

    I need to find an 02G transmission and associated parts - in the US it costs about $5000 or about EUR4300, and they only come up for sale about once or twice a year.

    As Bastelfix mentioned, there isn't a fix for ESP and AWD, however I'm having trouble getting the 5 speed manual and front wheel drive coded as well.

    Questions:

    Should I go full Syncro or try for the Haldex setup? The T4 I have doesn't have any AWD parts, so I need to import all of the parts from Europe.

    Should I keep my AXK VR6 (only 12000 km on engine) or move to a different motor like the 2.5L TDI?

    Do you think it is possible to retain the AXK VR6 and have a Haldex 4motion setup?

    Additionally, for those that done the Haldex swap, is it only possible to use the 1st generation controller?

    Are there any parts lists or guides I should look at? I've been trying to get information from ETKA on the web.
